Session Tracks

Track 1:  Nurse Career and Education

There are master’s degree programs in nursing, combined bachelor’s and master’s programs, and accelerated programs in nursing profession. Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) provide basic nursing care. The supply of new nurses entering the labor market has increased in recent years. Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. Nurse midwives, Nurse anesthetists and nurse practitioners coordinate the patient care to provide primary and specialty healthcare. Most registered nurses work as part of a team with physicians and other healthcare specialists. Some of the registered nurses oversee licensed practical nurses, social workers and nursing assistants. Registered nurses may work to promote public health, by educating people on warning signs and symptoms of disease or managing chronic health conditions. Some nurses work as researchers, healthcare consultants, nurse educators, hospital administrators, public policy advisors, salespeople for pharmaceutical and medical supply companies.

Nursing Scholarship Program administers more than 200 scholarships/grants to qualifying nursing students each year. The UK scientific research agenda through EU (European Union) collaboration, access to European research, development and innovation activities of funding between 2009 to 2020 received is 8.8 billion euros while contributing only 5.4 billion euros to EU research and development. To provide support for nursing education, nearly 38 states have now established vigorous state-funded grant and student loan programs.

Track 2:  Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice

Competencies is necessary for continuous improvement of the quality and safety of health care systems—patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety, and informatics. The target new federal and state subsidies in the form of scholarships, loan forgiveness, and institutional capacity awards to significantly will increase the number and proportion of new registered nurses who graduate from basic pre-licensure. From a policy perspective, nursing’s versatility is important to note for the simple reason that nursing has evolved faster than public policies affecting the profession. As per the growing evidence, it suggests that the shortage of nurses with BSN and higher education is adversely affecting a number of dimensions of health care delivery and these problems will only become exaggerated in the future.

Evidence Based Practice (EBP) has been recognized as a key factor in meeting the aim in healthcare, which improves the patient experience of care, the health of populations, the work life for clinicians and reduces the per capita cost of healthcare. Two $2,500 grants for EBP projects that address the clinical practice nursing, one $10,000 grant for a nursing research project that advances nursing practice and Three $2,500 grants for Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) projects was implemented. EBP multiple models are available and have been used in a variety of clinical settings. 90% of all nursing practice will be based on EBP research findings by 2020 and 55% are based on research findings.

Track 3Types of Nursing Education

There are many types of nursing education related to different agenda in which Cardiac nurses related to the heart and supporting systems. Dialysis nurses monitor, medicate, educate and support their patients through every step of dialysis. The special training of forensic nurses provides invaluable support to victims of abuse, neglect and violent crimes. From understanding complex pharmaceutical treatments to helping family members, geriatric nurses play an important role in today’s aging population. From the administering medicine to helping patients work on other treatment goals, psychiatric nurses provide an invaluable service to those struggling with mental health issues. Neonatal nurses not only support the individual care plan of infants in their charge. Working with infants and young children, pediatric nursing can put patients and their caregivers at ease. Occupational health nurse to assess potential risks and develop appropriate plans of action to reduce the probability of workplace injury. Nurses who specialize in oncology work with cancer patients and their families. Nurses who assist patients of all ages achieve health goals through a best practice approach to orthopedic care. Ambulatory care nurses interact directly with patients and often form long-term patient care relationships in a variety of settings. In this veterinary nursing, medical attendants work in organization with the veterinary specialists to give an exclusive requirement of care to the creatures.

Track 4: Nursing in Emergency Medicine

Emergency medicine nursing a specialty within the field of professional nursing focusing on the care of patients with medical emergencies involves pain management that aims to advance and promote optimal nursing care. Therapeutic toxicologists in Emergency Medicine have practical experience in the anticipation, assessment, treatment whereby toxicology incorporates the intense medication harming; unfavorable medication occasions, chemicals and dangerous materials. Sepsis or septicaemia a condition of your body battling a serious disease and is the significant reason for mortality and morbidity in hospitalized patients in which the Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria change in a way that reduces the effectiveness of drugs, chemicals, or other agents designed to prevent infections. The use of infectious agents act as weapons of terrorism. Ultrasound is utilized to distinguish undetectable deformities that can recognize pleural, pericardial and stomach liquid in the non-hazardous testing of things and structures, Analgesia/Sedation is a technique of administering sedatives or dissociative agents with or without analgesics. Care Management is a developing idea that refers to an arrangement of proof based incorporated clinical consideration exercises.

The EU and its member states set up the Emergency Trust Fund for stability in nursing and created a new €2bn fund to address multiple aspects of migration along the Central Mediterranean route in 2015.The Global Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Products Market is accounted for $19.16 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach $35.95 billion by 2026 growing at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 7.12% during the forecast period.

Track 5: Patient Safety & Health care

Patient safety has also been a priority in nursing education which emphasizes safety in health care through the prevention, reduction, reporting, and analysis of medical error that often leads to adverse effects. Most nations offer patient care and nursing courses that can be significant to general nursing or to particular territories including mental health nursing, pediatric nursing and post-operatory nursing. Nurse education likewise gives post-capability courses in pro subjects inside nursing. Various patient security aspects occur that everybody requires in patient wellbeing, including their families, patients, and social insurance experts, know about best practices for guaranteeing persistent security for everybody. Patient safety education consists in the theatrical and practical training provided to healthcare students/nurses with the reason to set them up for their obligations as nursing consideration experts. Medication errors are a noteworthy reason for inpatient dreariness and mortality.

Patient safety is high on the health policy agenda in all of the countries regardless of how the health care is organised and funded. Patient safety research can only be strengthened through a workforce capable of envisioning, advocating, planning, designing, conducting and undertaking research. Denmark, Sweden, England and Scotland have organised and funded health service, while Australia and Canada have universal health insurance policies that ensure citizens access to health care. The cost burden is expected to increase at a CAGR of 3.2% to reach $383.7 billion by 2022. The aim of the small research grants for patient safety is to stimulate research by providing seed funding for small research projects. US$ 500 000 will be allocated to fund 20–30 grants for studies to begin in 2009 and funding of between US$ 10 000 and US$ 25 000 per grant will be available.

Track 6: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

Nurture professionals (NP) understands as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) who is endorsed to give confirmation based practice through the examination and arrangement bleak condition the patients. Broad categories of APRNs include Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Nurse Midwife (CNM), Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), and Nurse Practitioner (NP). In the advanced practice role and population focus area, the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse a licensee authorized by the Board to practice is required to obtain 20 contact hours of targeted continuing nursing education. In acclimating to the International Council of Nurses, a NP/APRN is "an enlisted therapeutic specialist who has attired the refined data base, expand essential authority aptitudes and clinical abilities for since a long time back named sharpen, in which country they are credentialed to practice.

Advanced Practice Nurse Pay Surpasses $150K Annually. The highest wages in the nursing field are four primary types of advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs): nurse practitioners (NPs), certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), certified nurse midwives (CNMs) and clinical nurse specialists (CNS). The Value chain operations and policy positions could unlock economic opportunities worth at least $12 trillion a year by 2030. Offering payment to medicare providers allowed communities to scale up high quality clinical training for advanced practice although Medicare spends more than $15 billion annually on graduate medical education for physicians. They found that Medicare funds for nurse training have decreased 30% from $174 million in 1991 to $122 million in 2015 and that most funding still goes to hospital-operated less than 5% of RNs diploma programs.

Track 7: Travel Nurse

Travel nursing is a nursing arrangement idea that created in light of the nursing lack. This administration gives medical caretakers who go to work in professional tempore nursing positions, for the most part in doctor's facilities. While set out nursing alludes particularly to the nursing calling, it can likewise be utilized to allude to an assortment of travel social insurance destinations, including exercise based recuperation, proficient treatment, discourse dialect pathology, healing facilities and even specialists and dental practitioners.

For travel nurses, most of the expense actually comes from non-productivity costs (12-13%), insurance costs (8-9%), recruiting costs (1-2%), and other costs (1%) as income often includes a combination of taxable and non-taxable. Hourly cost is higher than traveling nurses approximately $83 per hour. The medical centre covered nearly $200 million in unreimbursed medical costs for patients. When compared with $858,000 post-surgery services in 2012, it spent $4.5 million for visiting nurses during fiscal 2016, including $3 million.

Track 8:  Midwifery & Women’s health

Assisting in the birth of babies is both exciting and challenging. Nurse midwives provide education and long term support to women as they move through the process of gestation to birth. The nurses’ delivery comprehensive health care to women throughout lifespan, with an emphasis on reproductive and gynaecologic health needs. Women have unique health issues. Women’s Health Care provides comprehensive, quality obstetrics and gynecology care with the warmth, responsiveness and accessibility of a community-based practice. A WHNP individual takes on leadership roles as primary care providers for women and provides focused care in areas like, prenatal and postpartum care, lifespan care through menopause, general wellness and preventive care, reproductive health care, etc.

The majority of midwives in the UK work within the NHS .Although nurses and midwives constitute more than 50% of the health workforce in many countries, they are also affected by the challenge of shortages. Every year in UK there are almost 700,000 live births. In 2016-2018, the associated maternity care cost funds to the NHS around £2.6 billion. Obstetrics claims equated to approximately 41% of the £1.1bn paid by the NHS Litigation Authority. Overall, 49% of women aware of their medical history and 15% of women did not appear to be aware of it.

Track 9: Professional and Continuing Nursing Education

A nurse is required to retain Continuing Education credits each year in which there are numerous nursing programs and nursing courses and continuing competency records for three licensure renewal cycles. Nursing ethics a branch of applied ethics concerns itself with activities in the field of nursing whereas the integrative therapies and alternative practices may address health needs by promoting comfort, healing and well-being, in nursing care. According to the Standards of Professional Nursing Practice, the registered nurse practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner. A nurse may request “volunteer retired nurse” authorization and requires a nurse who wishes to provide only voluntary charity care to obtain 10 hours of CNE for each two year authorization renewal cycle. Forensic Evidence Collection applies to all nurses practicing in emergency department (ED) settings as their home unit, floating, contracted, or other duties.

In nursing education literature, Continuing Education is extensively used as a convenient way of getting professional training. Professional societies derived the largest profit margins 31.8%, 42% ($1.05 billion) of the total $2.54 billion spent on CNE in which $1.5 billion of funding comes from commercial entities. Nursing Education Research Grants Program supports high-quality studies that contribute science development. Annually up to $25,000 granted to individual members schools. The Nursing Education Fund awards scholarships for advancement of nurse practice and professional development of nurses.

Track 10: Teaching Strategies in Nursing Education

nurse educator plays a vital role in nursing student’s life; she uses the effective ways to acknowledge the subjects and its depth to the students. Nursing students interest levels are progressed by few strategies like questioning randomly, conducting nursing debates, and arising nursing group discussion topics. By go through this rapid change of technology has come increasing dependence upon the health science society to incorporate different technologies into many professions. The purpose of this idea is for the development of technology-based nursing education and to specify targets requiring further dialogue among nursing faculty. It is becoming sure that nurse educators need to analyse values, communication, and social processes when directing, judging, investing and analyzing technological use within their work place.

Track 11:  Nursing Informatics & Management

Nurse management specialists of play a vital role in creating a stronger healthcare system. A nurse management leader wears many hats. Overall nurse managers help to coordinate a strong infrastructure across divisions. Nursing informatics specialists may coordinate patient records, prepare reports and train other nurses on new technology whereas Clinical research informatics is a subfield of health informatics that tries to improve the efficiency of clinical research. Alternative Medicine includes practices claimed to have the healing effects of medicine. An accomplished manager will need to be equipped to deal with financial, quality and human resource management built on the foundations of a sound knowledge of the healthcare system and organizational structure and culture as nursing leadership which is critical for maintaining productivity, cost effectiveness and improving patient outcomes. Physical therapy (PT), known as Physiotherapy, is a primary care specialty using mechanical force and movements.

Research funding can have enormous positive impact on nursing informatics in general and on information and communication technology. Nursing informatics facilitates optimization of operational cost, enable quick decision making and thus improve quality of services. The In 2016 the Global healthcare informatics market was valued at USD 39.45 billion and is expected to reach USD 123.24 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 13.74% from 2017 to 2025.

Track 12: Nursing Safety

If there are any hazards or anything that poses a threat to a person or property, you may not be feeling so safe. A physical hazard is anything physical that may cause harm to the body. There is a specialized group of physical hazards which are the mechanical hazards, these are the machines and other movable devices that may cause harm to the body. Good nutrition is important to everyone's health, and nutrition is thus an important part of the health history assessment. Good personal hygiene is important that refers to the science, practice, maintenance, and preservation of health and well-being through cleanliness. To best meet the needs of a patient, nurses must learn the principles of therapeutic communication. Your immune system protects you from foreign invaders that might harm you. When your immune system responds to these threats, it's called an immune response.

Safety isn’t just about preventing errors but it is about hardwiring safe practice. In terms of quality of patient care and nursing related outcomes nurse staffing has been found to be important. The global nurse system market accounted in 2014 is USD 600.0 million and is projected to reach USD 1,600.0 million in 2020, growing at a CAGR of around 14.0% between 2015 and 2020. Common nursing safety issue is patient transfer and patient handling. In UK, workforce development funding is largely used for nurses has been cut by Health Education England by 60% in 2 years from 205m in 2015 to £83.49m in 2017 and the budget for 2018-19 has been frozen at £83.49m.

Track 13:  Critical Care and Emergency Nursing

Critical Care Nursing research to provide an international interdisciplinary forum for the publication, and exchange of research findings aims to promote excellence of care to critically ill patients by specialist nurses and their professional colleagues. Delirium in critically-ill patients a common multifactorial disorder is associated with various negative outcomes.  In the emergency state, the patients are treated by trauma nurses and they handle urgent situations where the cause of injury or disease isn't yet known. The Emergency nurses are endowed with specific skills, knowledge and attributes to provide care to critically ill or unstable patients and their families. The modification of professional nursing knowledge, skills in nursing, health and both emotional and urgent needs of disaster victims is called Disaster NursingComplementary Health Practitioners play an important role in the Acute and Critical Care Setting.

Critical care is a challenging environment for clinical research. Industry figures put the market at about $3.2 billion; it is expected to grow to over $6 billion by 2020. The global critical care equipment market is projected to grow with a CAGR between 8 to 9% from 2017 to 2023, 3.62% during the period 2017-2021. The systems for funding critical care vary within health authorities and regions.

Track 14: Legal Nursing

Legal Nursing is the implications of nursing practice are tied to licensure, state and federal laws, scope of practice and a public expectation that nurses practice at a high professional standard. The nurse’s education, license and nursing standard provide the framework by which nurses are expected to practice. Ethical issues in legal nursing are mainly six ethical principles that arise frequently for the nurse who works in the correctional setting include Respect for persons (autonomy and self-determination), Beneficence (doing good), Nonmaleficence (avoiding harm),  Justice (fairness, equitability, truthfulness),  Veracity (telling the truth) and Fidelity (remaining faithful to one’s commitment).

Track 15:  Environmental Health Nursing

A specialty practice that provides and delivers health and safety services to employees, employee populations, and community groups is Environmental health nursing. Environmental health nurses work on improving the health of an entire population instead of on caring for a single patient at a time. The health risks of Environmental pollution include diseases in almost all organ systems in which air and water pollution control links with diarrheal diseasesrespiratory diseases in children and adults, cancers, neurological disorders, and cardiovascular disease. The fertilizers we drown our crops in are polluting the underground water in these areas, as well as the water bodies. The impact of air, water and food pollution is heavy in the climate change. To have a healthier environment we have to reduce unnecessary exposures to commonly used chemicals or other hazardous substances.

Environmental health nurses work in a number of settings who focuses on identifying different issues in the environment that can have an impact on the health and wellbeing. Environment Health costs business about $1 trillion annually to maximize employee productivity and reduce costs. The EU has several different funding programmes depending on the nature of business or project. There are two different types of funding, direct and indirect. Salaries range from $69,000 per year, with some in the profession earning more than $90,000 and expected to increase by an impressive 22 % over the next decade.

A “means of applying new low cost electronic technologies, such as 'web enabled' transactions, advanced networks and new design approaches, to healthcare delivery ehealth includes use of the internet or other electronic media. Clinical or biomedical research informatics involves the use of informatics in discovery and management of new knowledge relating to health and disease.

The telemedicine market is expected to reach $48.8 billion by 2023, growing at a CAGR of 14.8% between 2018-2023. The driving causes of the telemedicine market growth are increasing medical tourism, increasing government funding and grants for telemedicine, technological innovation & advancement . The three main eHealth challenges are funding, interoperability and patient empowerment. The European Union has funded over USD 558.29 million for the eHealth technology since 1990.Funding is a way greater issue in the UK and Ireland than in the other countries. Healthcare organizations can grants between $50,000 and $500,000 for the purpose of expanding rural telemedicine programs to improve access to education and care. Funds available this year, $1.6 million will be prioritized to provide for communication upgrades between ambulances, emergency transportation vehicles, and medical facilities.

Track 17: Future of Nursing Education

Racial and Ethnic diversity of nursing schools has increased dramatically, creating a rich cultural environment for learning. The rapid growth in information technology has already had a radical impact on health care delivery and the education of nurses. Nurses of the 21st century need to be skilled in the use of computer technologyNursing research and education become more focused internationally to disseminate information and benefit from the multicultural experience. Gene mapping will drive rapid advances in the development of new drugs and the treatment and prevention of disease. Nursing education programs must prepare students at all levels for roles in case management and employment in the managed care & medical home environment. Nursing schools, executives, scholars and professional nursing organizations will need to more actively contribute to the development of health policy and regulation.

The Nursing education industry is transforming the segment of healthcare highlighting the nursing education model which provides an insight about the education levels required for nursing education along with various options available to pursue nursing as a career. Expected number of registered nurses and midwives in the country will reach 4.1 Million by 2022, growing at a CAGR of around 6% during the forecasted period of 2017-2022. Nursing education continues to make significant gains in this area, with survey findings suggesting that 94% of practicing nurses say technology use is an attribute where nursing graduates are strongest. However, only 69% of nurses in practice settings indicate that students are more prepared to use technology than graduates 5 to 10 years ago.

London International comparisons of Hospitals

London's health sector shares many challenges with countries throughout the West and it has some unique characteristics of its own. The UK health systems provide universal coverage for the population. The NHS achieves universal health care coverage of the UK population. Funded protection is that out-of-pocket health care expenses in the UK are very low in comparison with health systems in other countries, However, while overall reported levels of unmet care needs are lower than the OECD  (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) average, nearly 4% of the UK population. The overall household income in different countries are In Netherlands it is 3%, UK 4%,France 6%, NewZealand 8%,Denmark 12%, Italy 14%, OECD average 25%, Japan 22%, Finland 30%, Australia 32%  etc..

The care homes market report

The care homes sector is worth around £15.9 billion a year in the UK, with around 410,000 residents. People with assets of more than £23,250 in England and Northern Ireland, £26,500 in Scotland, and £30,000 in Wales pay the full cost of their care, be it care homes, domiciliary care, or other types of care.5 41% of residents in care homes fund themselves (self-funders) and 49% receive Local authority-funding (around a quarter of these pay top-ups). Currently, it is estimated that of the 43.5 million health workers, 20.7 million are nurses and midwives. Nurses and midwives represent more than 50% of Global strategic directions for strengthening nursing and midwifery 2016–2020. As an example, it is projected that by 2050 the proportion of the world’s population aged over 60 years will nearly double from 12% to 22%.

The UK can play a leading role in developing nursing globally by working with its partners in the Commonwealth, Europe and elsewhere as well as with international agencies including the World Health Organization and the World Bank. There are many partnerships between British organisations and their counterparts abroad that bring mutual benefit between UK nurses. Many nurses in the UK, the US and some parts of Europe are nurse practitioners with very wide-ranging roles, able to diagnose, prescribe, undertake a range of procedures, and develop and lead whole services.

Professional population globally

Number of nurses, midwives and other health workers taken together are by far the largest professional group in the health workforce globally. In 2013 there were over 42 million health workers, according to WHO among them were 9.7 million doctors, 19.7 million nurses and midwives – just under half the total workforce – and 12.6 million health workers from other professions or with some level of training. WHO estimates health care is already a $7.2 trillion a year industry, equivalent to 10.6% of global domestic product. On current trends the number of nurses and midwives in Africa will grow from 1.0 million to 1.5 million between 2013 and 2030, but the shortfall in the number required to meet the need will grow from 1.8 million today, to 2.8 million by 2030.

Distribution of health workers, nurses and midwives across the Five WHO regions:

The quality of the data provided to WHO, Europe, the region with most nurses and midwives, has 5.84 per 1000 population while Africa, the region with the least, has 1.22 per 1000, UK, 6.9, US 9.4 and Norway 14.2. Thus the UK has around 20 times more nurses and midwives in proportion to its population than Mozambique and Ethiopia, the US about 30 times as many, and Norway 40 times as many. The European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies is a partnership between the WHO Regional Office for Europe, the Governments of Belgium, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the Veneto Region of Italy.

Food security is often defined in terms of food availability, food access and food utilization. Global agriculture currently produces ample calories and nutrients to provide the entire world's people healthy and productive lives". However, food is not distributed equally to regions, countries, households and individuals. Improved access to food-through increased agricultural productivity and incomes-is essential to meet the food needs of the world's growing population. Successful food security and poverty-oriented programmes not only assist poor rural populations to produce more and diversified products but to produce a surplus that can be marketed and thereby generate income for the purposes of improving quality of life through improved diet and nutrition, investment in productive activity, and as collateral for credit to purchase inputs and/or other supplies to enhance agricultural or non-agricultural enterprise. Agricultural economists have maintained that greater concentration on small farmers leads to faster growth rates of both aggregate economic output and employment .Other analysts argue that production-focused service delivery directed solely at the poor as producers in isolated areas will yield low and probably diminishing returns.
